PROJECT

Friends of the Yeatman

A welcoming charity website for the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital, created around one especially important requirement: the client needed to be able to manage it confidently themselves.  The charity has supported Sherborne’s community hospital since 1951.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Friends of the Yeatman
Sherborne, Dorset

Industry

Project Goal

Create an accessible, trustworthy charity website with an exceptionally straightforward content-management experience.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

Extremely Simple

Day-to-day content management

Clearer Presentation

Of the charity's work and history

Flexible Platform

For news, fundraising and ongoing updates

The Challenge

A good-looking front end was only half the brief – the back end had to be genuinely comfortable for non-technical administrators.

  • Volunteer/client editing needed to be simple.
  • Considerable historical and organisational information.
  • Older audience considerations.
  • Content needed to evolve without developer input.

The Approach

I structured both the visitor experience and CMS around clarity, consistency and repeatable content.

  • Simplified editing interfaces.
  • Reusable content patterns.
  • Clear navigation.
  • Accessible layouts and typography.

The Showcase

The finished site combines the hospital’s heritage with a clean contemporary presentation without sacrificing usability.

The Result

A website the organisation can actually own and operate rather than one that leaves them dependent on their web developer.

  • Greater publishing independence.
  • Faster content updates.
  • Sustainable long-term platform.

What The Client Said

“

Several previous attempts at improving our (Friends of The Yeatman Hospital) website had led nowhere, but Charlotte understood our requirements and was prepared to work with our existing logo and design the site round it. We are delighted with the result, which came in on budget and on time. We have been using it for about six months. It conveys our message clearly, without the gimmicks that infest so many sites, and is easy for our administrator to maintain. Charlotte was easy to deal with and responsive to our demands, and we have no hesitation in recommending Neon Web Design.
